My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

i have two cockatails and one of them is losing hair in the back of his head he is completely bald back there what do i do to help him get back hair?

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

Birds don't have hair...they have feathers or other wise called plumage.

Because birds hide their disease symptoms so well, poor feather condition may be the first sign of an ill bird. The feather condition reflects the physiologic and psychological health of the bird. Many feather diseases have an underlying diet or internal disease problem as well as a psychological disorder. Missing or unhealthy feathers can indicate and ill bird or obsessive preening such as feather picking.

Feather disorders (especially feather picking) can be one of the most frustrating and disconcerting conditions of caged birds to owners. The list of factors contributing to feather problems or feather picking is long and extensive.

For example, poor feather condition can be related to improper environment or diet, trauma, hormonal and reproductive diseases, psychological, metabolic diseases, genetic, viruses, bacteria, fungi, as well as internal and external parasites. The frustrating part of feather disorders is that many of the conditions look identical. This makes the diagnostic workup by the veterinarian difficult. Contrary to popular opinion, external parasites (mites, in particular), are extremely rare among caged birds.

Close observation of the feathers and skin can sometimes give insight to the cause of poor feather appearance. For example, broken and ragged feathers could be due to improper housing, mate trauma, or delayed molt. Brittle and frazzled feathers with scaly skin is often a sign of poor nutrition. Stress marks (horizontal lines of improper feather growth) are a sign that when the feather was in the "pin" stage, the bird was ill or stressed. Retarded feather growth and retention of pin feather sheaths in young birds can be due to a dry environment. Abnormal coloration can be genetic, diet, or internal illness. This can be a common problem in cockatiels. The replacement of a white feather by a golden yellow one may indicate a problem. A low grade psittacosis infection can be one of the causes of this condition.

Abnormal molts can be expressed by dark areas or fringes of feathers that appear bronzed and frayed. This is often a sign of illness, poor nutrition, or an imported bird to northern latitudes. If this is accompanied by puritis (itchy skin), it can indicate extreme environmental temperature fluctuations, low thyroid function or internal parasites such as giardia.

You bird cage mate may be over preening its bald buddy. Also they molt every 6 months, and it could be taking longer for the littler feather to grow back, hence, delayed molting.

Becareful of using non-stick pans in a home with birds, and scented candles, insense, and fragrance defusers....this can compromise the health of your birds.

Give youbird more the just the mised seeds for feeding...look in your pet store for mixes that include, oats, raisens, nuts, peppers, and beans that you serve warm...they love it.

Give them plenty of toys to ches and play with so they don't get bored and pull each others feather.

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

birds don't have hair.

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

Birds don't have hair, they have feathers. And it's possible that you've got a male and a female, and the male is tearing the female's feathers out when they're fooling around. Watch your birds and see what they're doing that's causing this. Maybe they're both male and the one is fighting with the other because he feels it's infringing on his territory. You may have to get another cage.

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

LMAO, must be a blond.

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

It is natural for cockateils to have bald spot on head.

They really love neck rubs!

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

This is difficult being that something is stressing him to pick out his feathers. If he does not have parasites, mites or is sick then someone has changed something like cage location, lack of time with him, changed environment and so on.

Try seeking out your answer somewhere at a local Avery where you live.

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

It is likely that your birdie is molting. Most birds do. Check the internet to see if yours does, or talk with your vet.

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

You must find out first if the bird is pulling out its own feathers, if the other bird is pulling them out, or if the feathers are falling out on their own.

Some cockatiels have bald spots, usually lutinos, and it's a genetic problem.

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

Your cockatiel is most likely Molting. If the cockatiel is a Lutino, there is a possibility that he will be without feathers (hair) for a little while. If your other 'Tiel is plucking him, then this is another issue.

I'm sure a Colleague of mine, "Pampered Parrots" will be coming on to assist you with this question.

But you must understand that losing feathers is a natural process in regenerating new, fluffy plumage. It's not unlike us losing skin cells.

May I suggest you do some homework about your Cockatiels? No disrespect intended really, but in order to really understand what your birds require in the way of day-to-day care, you must first get a grasp of the basics.

Please read up as much as you can. Here are some websites:

This is just a start in learning about your birds.

You have a responsibility to them now that you have them in your house.

There is an old saying:

You are forever responsible

for what you have tamed

It's up to you now because your birds have no voice in telling you what they need. You must learn on your own for the sake of your little guys.

Best of Luck,

Phoenix

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

Buy Bitter Apple spray , spray it on the birds bald spot on the back of the birds head,. The other bird is pulling the birds feathers out cause it feels he/she is in control over this bird, there is always a pecking order with birds, this will not harm your bird who is pulling out the other ones feathers, if this continues maybe they are better off seperated put one in a different cage, as long as they see each other they won't be lonley.

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

HAHA! Birds don't have hair, they have FEATHERS!!!

And they PICK OUT THEIR FEATHERS when they are stressed or have too much anxiety....

He needs a better home.

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

Well, first off, they don't have hair. they have feathers.

Secondly, you said that one of your Cockatiels is loosing "hair" on the back of his head.

So, to the people who said that he might be picking his own feathers - Try this: Put your hands in your pockets... then try chewing the hair off the back of your own head. Finding it a little bit difficult to do? Don't feel bad... the bird wasn't able to do it either ;)

Obviously, if there was any headfeather picking going on, it was done to it by the other bird.

It appears that Phoenix and Lizz have some good advice for you and a list of sites that you should look into.

A vet checkup might be in order too. Your Cockatiels should have regular checkups. Make a list of question about your birds to take with you to the vet. I'm sure you have a few.

My cockatail bird is losing hair.?

I have been involved with cockatiels for many years. There are several subspecies of cockatiel. It is common for some of the subspecies to have a bald patch on their heads. It is NOT a disease, just a genetic trait of the particular subspecies. This is commen in lutenite and albino subspecies.

Long haired Guinea pig losing hair?

Bought June 2nd, My long haired guinea pig is losing hair on the back of his neck. He gets Vitamin-c daily (a slice of orange). What can I do to stop the hair loss?

Long haired Guinea pig losing hair?

You need to take your guinea pig to a vet pronto! What's happening is that he has a mite problem. Or even a fungal infection if it's that far along. You can treat mites with three doses of Ivermectin, which can be bough at feed stores. You have to dilute the ivermection accordingly to your guinea pig's weight though.

You only give him a slice an orange a day? First off, orange is a very sugary substance for a guinea pig. You should give him leafy greens (no ice burg lettuce), bell peppers, cilantro, a carrot, and a tomato at least on every day.

I'll attach a link about hair loss and mite management, as well as a guinea pig diet sheet.

Long haired Guinea pig losing hair?

Look for any scabs or red sores. Take him to a vet. Bathe him in guinea pig shampoo. My piggy was losing her hair on her back from the stress of losing her room mate and getting a new one. After a few weeks of washing her her hair grew back and shes fine now.

Long haired Guinea pig losing hair?

Take it to the vet and find out what kind of treatment he needs. The Guinea pig could have hot spots on the back of his neck. Try to get him a appointment at the vets.

Long haired Guinea pig losing hair?

First the obvious: Try changing his bedding. There are many different kinds to choose from at your local pet store.

I had a guinea pig with this problem. I was taking him to a vet to treat it, but it wasn't getting better. It got to the point where he was starting to have seizures because he was scratching himself so violently. My thought at this point was, "Are you serious I have to put a guinea pig down for what started as hair loss?!" I figured as one last effort I would give this a shot:

Go to this web site:

http://www.oginet.com/pgurney/index.html

There is a recipe under the "skin problem" area which a mixture of natural oils you can find in a health food store. Not all health food stores carry each of these items, so call before you go. The mixture cost me about $40.... much less than what I was paying the vet to solve the problem. Much to my surprise it worked beautifully for my piggy, it was safe and painless. He did smell a bit like a salad for a while though! A small price to pay for a healthy pig. It gave immediate results for my piggy after dealing with this problem for months. This works for mites or fungal infection. There are testimonials there from other people who it worked for other than myself. Good luck!!

Long haired Guinea pig losing hair?

First and foremost is to figure out what type of bedding your using. If its pine cedar or any type of wood chip then thats the reason. You need to get him out of it fast and clean out his cage of any reminise of this bedding. It can also cause upper respitory infections. Then if thats not the case call you local pet store and tell them the problem. Most of the time they are ready and willing to help and they know the answer. Then if it comes down to it take him to the vet. If he has cabs then the most probable cause is fleas or mights! I hope hes okay!

Long haired Guinea pig losing hair?

It is most likely mites. The guinea pig that I adopted had the same problem. He lost all the hair on his belly and sides. Mites can't be seen by the naked eye or on skin scrapings. They can be dormant for long periods of time and pop up for no reason. Your vet can treat her with ivermectin or you can do it yourself. Check out http://guinealynx.info/mites.html...... for all the info you need. Please treat her. Mites can cause serious problems and are painful for the guinea pig.

Addition: Mites will not neccessarily cause scabs or ANY other symptoms. It is a very common occurance in guinea pigs that can become serious if untreated. Read up on how to treat her and do it. Even if it turns out not to mites, the ivermectin won't hurt her any way. Only good can come of it

Long haired Guinea pig losing hair?

Its not the Vitamin C issue. If it were a defiancy of that, he would have Scurvy. What most likely your problem is is he has mites. Just bugs crawling on his skin. And he is reacting by scrachting it, thats what is taking the hair off. Get some Revolution, or take him to the vet. Revolution is a product that kills the bugs, it is used for cattle. But with cattle, you pour the whole bottle on the cows back, with this, you use one very tiny drop on the guinea pigs ear. You can find it at a Feed Store for horses %26amp; cattle.

Long haired Guinea pig losing hair?

Sounds like you have been using wood shavings for bedding. First off..STOP! Use Carefesh brand. It is the best for them. Bathe him in baby shampoo and then coat him in vegtable oil. It smothers mites and will not hurt them if they groom. Leave it on for 24 hours and bathe again. Once you have changed the bedding and used this process, if it has been mites you are good to go. Good luck and email me if you have any more questions.

Long haired Guinea pig losing hair?

I am recommending you follow the advice of MemphisGal %26amp; GailtheGuineaPg. They are correct %26amp; gave accurate information! Please be sure to visit the page about diet on Guinea Lynx. A good diet will help keep your piggie's skin (as well as the rest of him!) in top shape when you get rid of those pesky mites.

Best of luck.

Help i think i'm losing my hair *15 yr old girl**?

help.. i think i'm losing my hair, i am deff. noticing a change... its a LOT thinner and i am actually, thinking about it, noticeing a huge difference.. i am straightening and washing everyday... but i never used to lose hair and i havnt even done it for the past week or so...

is there anything i can eat or take *vitamins* to make it grow back..or faster ..

??

Help i think i'm losing my hair *15 yr old girl**?

It could be caused by a lot of things, like blowdrying, straightening, wrong care products, but it can also be medical reasons.

I started losing a lot of hair about a year ago (25 year old women) and I went to see my family doctor. We had some bloodtests done and we found out that I had a big vitamin B12 deficiency and anemia. I got shots once a month for 6 months and now my hair is all normal again.

It could of course be something completely different. If you keep losing hair the next few weeks see a doctor. It could jsut be an allergic reaction or a reaction to weather or... well lots of things.

Help i think i'm losing my hair *15 yr old girl**?

do you dye your hair? ..sometimes that can cause it to fall out..straighting just causes it to dry out.

your always growing new hair so dont worry..there are some shampoos you can look for that give your hair more volume to make it look like you've got more..like sunsilk ..

and just use moose ..or however you spell it.

Help i think i'm losing my hair *15 yr old girl**?

i also experienced that...

you must use coconut or olive oil...

its works!

i don't suffer from hair fall anymore...

and my hair became thicker!

Help i think i'm losing my hair *15 yr old girl**?

have some vitamin C and drink milk and water regularly and wash your hair with eggs. break the eggs and whisk it untill it turns yellow the wash it throughly.

but main thing is take vitamin C

Help i think i'm losing my hair *15 yr old girl**?

Yes eat A LOT of meat and DONT use walmart shampoo and cheap stuff go to a hair shop like sallys and tell the people your problem. My hair did the same thing because i keep my hair platinum blonde and my mom is a hair styles and she got me some stuff its in a white botle and its like called "Chi" rud it threw ur scalp ITS NOT LEAVE IN THOUGH!

Help i think i'm losing my hair *15 yr old girl**?

Hi! Don't panic. First of all, dying, straightening and even drying your hair with hairdryer damages the hair. So try not to do it too often, especially in your age. The health is unstable, I mean hormones. Do you have period? Maybe your organism is in a process of changing...

So my advice is to consult with your doctor - he will surely answer all your questions :)

Not seeing the hair is impossible to say if you're losing it or not.

Help i think i'm losing my hair *15 yr old girl**?

sweetie-it's vitiman E that you should be taking--besides that if you arent doing anything seriously harmful to cause this(like dying, bleaching, bla bla)then you need to see a dermatologist-they could help you more than a normal doc.good luck!

Why is our cat losing hair?

Our cat seems to be losing a large patch of fur above his hind leg. It started out about the size of a nickel, but now it's about 3 inches in diameter. He doesn't appear to have fleas or any other parasite problem, so I don't think it has anything to do with that. I did a little research on feline hair loss but nothing seems to match. He doesn't have any type of lesion or any symptoms of increased lethargy, only this one patch of missing hair. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is occurring?

Why is our cat losing hair?

Oh I feel your pain here. I have a tortie cat that does this. Yes, take the cat to the vet, but be prepared to never have an answer to this question. We were told by multiple vets that the cat was probably allergic to something but there was really no way to figure out what. But - here are some things that other cat people I know have had (the cats, not the people) that kind of fit what you're talking about.

Flea allergy disease. The cat is allergic to fleas, you may not even see a flea on the cat because the cat only needs like one flea bite before they have a reaction and start loosing hair. They generally get scabby before they lose the hair.

Ringworm - don't really need to say more on this one.

Protein Molecule Allergy - I mention this one because even though I think it's kind of rare, if there really are no fleas (and it is winter) this one is possible. What happens here is the cat is allergic to the protein molecule (food) and they for whatever reason begin to lick their hair off. If this is what happened you might mention it to the vet and have them test the cat. Kind of a long shot, but worth a mention. It's fixable, you just have to buy special food.

Stress - I suspect this is the root of my own cat's hair loss. I have known cats that are sort of "ball of nerves" cats and they can become fixated on grooming and will literally lick a patch of hair off. If your cat has been on edge recently or just has this type of nature then this could be it.

At any rate, unless it's an identifiable allergy, the vet will probably give the cat a steroid shot and the hair will grow back.

Good luck.

Why is our cat losing hair?

No, but your VET would!

Why is our cat losing hair?

well after i got my cat fixed, she started losing some of her fur...especially around her belly...but i think its perfectly normal for cats to shed...hope your cat gets better :D

Why is our cat losing hair?

Does he scratch or bite at the area? He may have an allergy or dry/sensitive skin. Some cats try to fix their own health problems by cleaning more frequently. Yours may be so fixated on trying to get the problem to stop that he is pulling his hairs out. I had a cat that had a skin rash during the summer and the vet equated it to "hot spots". We would wipe him with a medicated wipe (I don't remember the name) and also put a vitamin in his food for skin/fur conditioning. It seemed to help.

Why is our cat losing hair?

If it' an indoor cat maybe it's allergies, good luck at the Vet.

Why is our cat losing hair?

Probably an allergy or an area of irritation, the cat could be pulling it out with their teeth. my cat seemed to have no fleas but she kept pulling her hair out on her spine by her butt, and after the third trip to the vet the blue light revealed one single flea that was driving her nuts. she has a flea sensitivity so one flea drove her nuts. put her on the flea program and she stopped pulling her hair and it grew back.

Why is our cat losing hair?

Just a thought here but it might be ringworm? since you have an appt with your vet shortly you'll soon have your answer. Off the top of my head tho, it can be a possible allergic reaction to something specific that may have touched that area (since you say that there are no other spots?) or he may have gotten into something that was caustic that caused the spot to show up. but my best guess would be ringworm. the spot will change color when you shine a black light on it - your vet will probably check it that way plus take a skin scraping. Mange is probably not a possibility but the skin scraping will make sure of that too.

good luck - I assume that your cat doesn't show tenderness or anything regarding the spot - so you soon will find out what the mysterious spot is all about.

Why is our cat losing hair?

I just took my cat to the vet 2 days ago for the SAME EXACT THING - he said it was allergies due to the weather changes - he gave him a shot of some type of steroid and it's already clearing up.......if you can't get to the vet, try a benadryl

Why is our cat losing hair?

It is allergic to something......... Go to the vet to find out..............

Why are only 2 of my cats losing hair on their hind quarters?

I have a total of 6 cats and 2 of them are losing their fur on their hind quarters. On both of them the hair loss starts at their hind legs and ends about mid tail. Both of these 2 are runts of their litters, could that be why only they have this problem? And they both are contantly cleaning and licking the areas where the hair loss is occuring. Could there be something seriously wrong?? I've taken one of the cats to the vet and they say there isn't anything physically wrong with them other then the hair loss and the only thing they can think of is that she has allergies, but I don't see that being a reason for her to lose her hair. That and I've elliminated everything she could possibly be allergic to. We have no plants or anything along those lines in the house. We've switched to all natural cleaning supplies and nothing has helped my kitties with their problem. PLEASE HELP FOR THE SAKE OF MY BALDING KITTIES!

Why are only 2 of my cats losing hair on their hind quarters?

I would get another opinion from another vet, because that is quite unusual for that to be happening. They could possibly be allergic to something. But you should get a second opinion. Good luck, and I hope your cats feel better!

Why are only 2 of my cats losing hair on their hind quarters?

have they got flees,if not done latlely get done

Why are only 2 of my cats losing hair on their hind quarters?

I WOULD TAKE THEM TO THE VET YOU MIGHT HAVE RING WORM IN YOUR CATS SOME DO NOT SHOW SIGNS BUT KITTENS DO REALLY FAST AND BADLY AND IT STARTS ON THE FEET THEN ON THE FACE WHERE THEY SCRACH GET THEM TO CHECK AND FAST.

21 and Losing Hair?

As above, i'm losing my hair already. Its thinning at the sides slowly.

I figured I had at least untill 30. How do I stop this in its tracks?

21 and Losing Hair?

apply vitamine E oil

21 and Losing Hair?

THis is more than likely STRESS related! More times then none early hair loss is just stress so relax you have some more time till it falls out,I would however speek to your docter and see what he recomends on how to better deal with the stress in you life

21 and Losing Hair?

conditioner, hair oil messages and acupauncture. is there a family history of hair loss.

21 and Losing Hair?

Losing hair at an early age is usually related to stress. I began losing hair also, but knew that I had to change my ways of dealing with stress immediately. You should do the same...(if you are stressing a lot.) You should also ask your family if they have a history of premature hair loss.

good luck

21 and Losing Hair?

Try "The original Mane n taill" shampoo and conditioner, you can find it at CVS or Sallys. I dont know why but I think you go through seasons where I loose a lot of hair. Using this shampoo helps stop right away. I ve been using this on and off for several years, and never needed another treatment. I stop using it several weeks after my hair stops to fall.

21 and Losing Hair?

Nioxin is a good product to use for thinning hair. i know alot of people that like it. it could help but there is no way to cure it. its all genetics and i know people who lost there hair before they were 21.

Hi im only 17 and im losing so much hair at the front (male pattern bldness)?

im losing hair and im only 17, is there any way that i can grow it back? it is also getting thin and you can see through my hair and before i used to have thick hair. im also losing hair on my eyebrows so does that mean anything?

Hi im only 17 and im losing so much hair at the front (male pattern bldness)?

Well, if it wasn't for the eyebrows I would say you probably have an early case of alopecia areata. But, you might be suffering from alopecia totalis, where you lose all the hair from your head (including eyelashes and eyebrows). This is very uncommon, you probably don't have this. I would recommend seeing a doctor about this, but if it is early male pattern baldness or alopecia totalis there isn't anything they can really do about it.

Hi im only 17 and im losing so much hair at the front (male pattern bldness)?

That can be a symptom of polycystic ovarian disease, if you have any of the other symptoms go see your gynocologist soon. You can google the full info on it, but some of the other signs are: irregular periods, overweight, unusual hair growth (such as on face or chest) and acne.

Hi im only 17 and im losing so much hair at the front (male pattern bldness)?

My son is 19 and is getting a receding hairline, I know it comes from his father, most of the time that is heriditary, now the eyebrows, I've never heard or seen that so I don't know. Have you been on any medications lately? they will cause it too. You can try a product like rogain or something like it, it's a hair stimulate. Don't wear hats thats one of the worst things to do, your hair can't get oxygen.

Hi im only 17 and im losing so much hair at the front (male pattern bldness)?

prenatal vitamins (or bioton)

and mane n tail horse shampoo

Shih Tzu losing hair- male and 2 years old?

My shih Tzu is losing hair Drastically on the part above his right front leg. He's literally almost bald on the spot. the patch is around 5-6 inches. He has never hade any health problems before. His behavior has also not changed since. The vet said that it is allergies and gave him pill and shampoo, but it doesn't seem to help.

PLEASE HELP!

Shih Tzu losing hair- male and 2 years old?

he could have mange or sum other health problem...u need to get to a vet ASAP

Shih Tzu losing hair- male and 2 years old?

I've got a ShishTzu that's almost 3 years old and he hasn't experienced anything like that.

I'd get a second opinion from another vet just to be sure - you know how health care is for humans these days - It's not that much better for our pets.

Shih Tzu losing hair- male and 2 years old?

This is typical grain allergy. Get him on a food with no corn wheat or soy or grain free if you can find it. 2 is the average age for allergies to start. Just slowly switch to a low or grain free food and wait 6 weeks. you should see a difference. Also if you smoke do so outside. Dogs are more sensitive to this than people are. If you need help finding a good food please send me a message and I will try and find one in your area! Good luck and god bless!

Shih Tzu losing hair- male and 2 years old?

My maltese licks too. I've been told to give 1 mg of Benadryl per pound of dog by my vet. It could be allergies. Also try to change the diet. There are a lot of allergic items, food, pollen, fleas etc. I went to a pet store and bought a chicken, grain free dry to try. If you do this you can't do any treats or any cheese or anything else for a month. You need to perge the dog off all the bad foods. Water only to drink. See if you can bring up the link for NZYMES.COM. It has a lot of information on allergies on dogs.

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

I have a 7 year old female Pit Bull. She is losing an excessive amount of hair. She is not eating like she normally does. This has been going on for two weeks. She is very healthy but i'm afraid she is going to starve herself. The vet said she won't but to change her food. I did. She still will not eat. I have tried canned food, moist food, and hard food mixed with egg. She will eat human food but I don't think it is healthy for her. Is it? Please help. I don't want her to get sick. Also, what kind of food is best for dogs. I have used Science diet, Iams, and Pedigree.

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

TAKE HER TO THE VET! Sheesh. If you were bleeding from the ears and your left leg turned purple, would you go on Yahoo Questions to figure out whether or not you should see a doctor?

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

If you had read my question more carefully you would have read that I had already taken her to the vet before i wrote this. He attributed the loss of appetite to stress from our move to another state. But thanks for the great answer. It was very informative and helped me a great deal :( Report It

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

She might have mange, take her to the vet, if it gets worse the treatment is longer and painful if it's on the whole body, so hurry and get her there, Good Luck

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

Take her to another vet for a second opinion.

Thyroid and cushings are things I can think of off the top of my head, but there must be dozens of possible reasons.

You can give your dog a diet of human food but you should try to locate a pet nutritionist for the best foods. you can also google dogs and natural or people food, that might have some ideas.

Cooked meats, veggies, cheese, eggs, those are things dogs will usually eat.

Good luck.

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

Contrary to popular belief, "human" food will not hurt a dog. Keep away the spicy or sweet stuff and they will be fine.

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

7 years old has she had any blood work done? shes getting up in age and my guess would be she might have a thyroid problem this is a syptom losing hair had she gained or lost any weight recently? check her skin does she have dark pigment spots in various areas? if you havent had a blood panel done on her i would advise it highly that will give you all the answers youll need to resolve this problem . i work for 4 vets. start 1st with the bloodwork good luck to you and e-mail me on her progression krazyk9kutter@aol.com

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

Well, I would not eat dog food either if my owner gave me people food and I would keep refusing my food if I figured out that if I do not eat "my" food my owner will give me his/hers. Your dog has got you trained! lol!! Your dog will not let itself starve to death. Since you have taken the dog to the vet and ruled out sickness, you should do the following: put the food down and give your dog 10 minutes to eat, if she doesn't eat remove the food and do not give her anything else repeat the same for the next meal. you should offer food 3x a day following the same thing each time. Hunger is a powerful motivator so you dog will eat.

It is harder on the owner than it is on the dog when doing this, but I promise your dog will eat what you want her to eat if you do this.

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

OU812 Is an idiot use the 9mm on him he obviously has no ability to be anything other than prejudice.

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

Hmmm... 7 years old, hair loss, poor appetite... has your vet run a thyroid test? It's not uncommon for older dogs to have hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). The test is a blood test that your vet can send to a lab and usually get the results back in about 3 days. If the test shows that the thyroid is not producing enough hormone, your vet can prescribe thyroid replacement medicine called levothyroxine-- it's usually a pill that you give once or twice a day. The vet would need to test your dog periodically to make sure the levels are good, but once it's stabilized, the dog ought to do really well. If the thyroid is low, that can be the reason for the hair loss. If so, the hair will usually begin to grow back fairly quickly after starting meds.

All the foods you mentioned are okay. You could spend big buxx on expensive super-premium food, but it won't do any good if your dog won't eat it. In general, as long as you stick with a good reputable brand that isn't the "cheapest of the cheap", you should be fine. Try to stay away from highly colored food... the brands you listed aren't colored much if at all, so no worries there. You can try flavoring her dry food with a little low-salt chicken broth to see if that helps.

But I would get a recheck visit and suggest a thyroid test. Many vets don't run these as often as they should-- we see a lot of "borderline" hypothyroid dogs that benefit from low doses of thyroid meds-- these are dogs who tested on the low edge of normal, yet showed symptoms even though the test was technically "normal". (Same with hyperthyroidism in cats.) It's worth a look-see to confirm or rule it out. Even if the test is obviously normal, you still have a baseline-- and a thyroid test SHOULD be a regular part of a senior pet's annual or biannual routine (along with heartworm and stool tests).

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

As for the hair loss, you can try a multivitamin supplement. The supplement should contain omega fatty acid 3. Flax seed oil, fish oil, cod liver oil, salmon oil, etc, are all good sources of omega fatty acids. Other vitamins/minerals to include are vitamins A,D,E, Bs (2,3,6,8, etc), potassium, calcium, zinc, magnesium, etc. Any pet store will carry a supplement that has all I just listed and more.

Most commercial dog food is poor quality. Most dogs don't get their nutritional needs met through them and it shows in their skin, fur coat and nails. The dog foods you listed are rather poor on the quality scale. A vitamin/mineral/omega fatty acid supplement will make up for whats not adequate in the dog food.

When my dog doesn't eat I mix her food with a small amount of chicken soup broth, or something similar. If your dog is healthy other than not eating she may just be finicky and not like the food. Try getting a premium grade food from a pet store or feed mill. In general, anything you can get in a grocery store is low quality.

Good luck!

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

Try Natural Balance Dry or Wet food - there is no better food out there.

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

hi

Pit Bull losing hair and will not ear.?

Pitbulls are notorious for food allergies and this is the most common problem of allergies in pits. The food you are feeding is the wrong kind of food. The ones you mentioned are so full of fillers and preservatives that are not good for your dog. Science diet is a crappy food and the only reason that the vets promote this food is they get a 40 percent profit for all they sell. They are pet doctors not nutritionists. I have not known any pit to like science diet from experiance.

Try an all natural dog food like innova, wellness, canidae, solid gold etc. they are great dog foods, and none of the poisonous crap the dog food companies put into the food.

I feed mine the raw diet but research that before you decide it. In the meantime pour a gravy mix over the dogs food and mix it in. In order to rid of the allergies switch to a food with no corn.

Pet rat...losing hair??

Hi there.

I have two young male rats that I have owned for about a month now. Both are in good health and are developing very nicely. However, I just noticed a few days ago that one of the rats is losing some hair on his back. It looks like a bald patch. I'm a little worried, I have no idea what's going on. Does anybody have an idea of what it could be?

Pet rat...losing hair??

If you do not see any wounds or scabs or excessive scratching associated with the bald patches then there is a good chance that the patchy boy is over-indulgent in self grooming or his cage mate is over-grooming him. In the Rat Fancy we call this "Barbering".

More on Barbering:

http://search.yahoo.com/search?search=Ba...

Some answers here may scare you into thinking that it's something worse. Mites, allergy to bedding, and allergy to food will manifest themselves as sores, scabs, excessive scratching, redness of the skin, ect. If his skin is a clean pink but the fur is missing it's just Barbering. Barbering can, but not always, be brought on by stress and/or boredom. Sometimes it's just an inherited habit that may or may not resolve itself on it's own.

Pet rat...losing hair??

over grooming

barbering

both can be avoided by adding more stimulation to their lives

mites- little red dots barely visible

lice- attached to hair shaft

most common thing for loss of fur on back

get some ivermectin from pet store or vet just comes in back of neck drops, if from pet store make sure its one for rats

diet deficiency

make sure your rats diet has enough copper in it

excellent diet for rats

http://www.ratsrule.com/diet.html

labblocks/nuggets do give them a total balanced diet but its pretty boring fare, like us eating rice cakes everyday

a diet to high in protein after kittenhood can also cause hairloss, also rats can be allergic to nuts/seeds/dairy so if your feeding to many of those they may get fur loss

bedding

are you using sawdust/shavings/wood pellet litter? pheneols are released when pee hits them and ammonia is produced both of which apart from being horrendous for their resp tract can cause skin irritation leading to loss of fur

are they rex rats?

poorly bred/petshoprex rats do have thinner fur than standard coated varieties and the density can ebb and flow throughout their lives

not sure? look at the whiskers are they curly? if so your rat is a rex

stress/hormones?

are they coming upto their teenage time[6-9 months] hormones can rage causing hair loss both through stress and hormone fluctuations

the last thing i would consider, but its highly unlikely, i have only ever seen 5 rats in 15 years afflicted and they were kept in appalling conditions, is ringworm, not actaully a worm but a fungal infection related to athletes foot and thrush, but can be transmitted from animals to humans and vice versa

you would need to have a skin scrape looked at by a vet to confirm this

please note:

none of this is meant to scare you, only to give you a wider view of whar can cause hairloss, there is no point in anyone here saying it is X and X only, nothing else, as

1] we cant actually see your rat

2] however much experience we think we have, theres always something we HAVENT seen

ive tried to cover everything there that i have come across in my 15 year real rat experience, not scare you in any way, but not blinker you to one option only either

so i hope it helps =)

Guinea pigs losing hair?

My guinea pig is losing her hair, what could this be caused by (growth, size of cage, size of hiding spot)?

Guinea pigs losing hair?

Small rodant ofte loose hair for two reasons. One when weather gets cold for some reason they tend to shed hair and old aga

Guinea pigs losing hair?

Stress can cause it. Find out what is stressing him/her out and try to remove the stressful instigator.

Guinea pigs losing hair?

it's getting old

Guinea pigs losing hair?

I've had many guinea pigs...she could have scabies or a vitamin C deficiency. You should take her to the vet to rule out any skin infections as well. I know it seems silly to take a guinea pig to the vet but it's worth it!

Help, I'm losing my hair in big blotches!?

It's been going on for several weeks now. I posted a question here about dandruff, because I had such a snowstorm falling every time I touched my scalp, but didn't realize I was also losing hair. Somebody suggested using a clarifying shampoo %26amp; conditioner, which I did. It didn't seem to improve much, so I tried Head %26amp; Shoulders (Classic Clean). Never used H%26amp;S before so I shampooed %26amp; rinsed 2 times each time I washed my hair. Big mistake...less is more! My scalp only got worse!

Yeah, hindsight is 20/20, because when I think back a few weeks, I recall having a pinkish color around the hairline, but thought it was due to a change in makeup -- foundation %26amp; blush. I'm no longer using the mineral makeup but still have severe flaking %26amp; itching of the scalp. I am due to see my primary care physician in about 1 week but wonder if I should do something sooner. Can somebody help, please?

Help, I'm losing my hair in big blotches!?

sounds like a sensitive scalp...avoid head and shoulders like the plauge!!! paint stripper basically lol.

try using tea tree based shampoo's as this is renowned for soothing scalps, itchyness, greasy hair as it is anti fungal etc.

losing hair - can be a sign of stress/depression, but also due to bad diet or medication.

Help, I'm losing my hair in big blotches!?

I would, it could be an allergy, or it could be some kind of fungus and there are things you can do for this. Also when you loose your hair like that it can be a sign of a medical problem, don't panic but don't wait either. Good luck.

Help, I'm losing my hair in big blotches!?

Possibilities: allergy, auto-aggression or a deficit of necessary rare elements like selenium, zinc, germanium, ...

If auto-aggression, is has to do with your thyroid gland. The doctor should determine the TSH in blood.

Help, I'm losing my hair in big blotches!?

if you had bad dandruff combined with hair loss, then it is likely a medical condition. I wouldn't use anything but a gentle shampoo and conditioner. And I'd stop using any styling products in case you are having an allergic reaction.

glad to hear you already have a doctor's appointment. you really shouldn't take any treatment advice here until you know what is going on from your doctor...you could make it worse.

Help, I'm losing my hair in big blotches!?

hmmm

this is the only thing hair related I know.

My daughter goes to this natural health site for a product and found a hairgrowth one listed- of course she had to try it- she had very short ahir and so we could see the difference in a couple of weeks- they said an oil used by geishas -

well she used it on her eyelashes too- like they said, and they are longer now!

if yours is short, you probably can try the sample like she did, to see if it works-

THey also say hair will become stronger- maybe it can work for you? The longer part is definitely true

of course this can only be thought of after your allergies are being taken care of!

My hamster is losing hair.?

My hamster is losing his hair, and under the hair there is red bald spots on his skin is this normal? or does anybody know what it is, how I can treat it?

My hamster is losing hair.?

I have several questions and maybe one you might be able to diagnose what the problem is with your dear hamster.

Which bedding do you use? Cedar or Pine are dangerous and can cause hair loss or respiratory disease.

Is he getting corn in his diet? Odd but true, if the hamster doesn't get corn he WILL lose his hair.

Mite infestation? Check his fur and clean his bedding.

Fleas do not cause this kind of hair loss in rodents.

If none of these questions are relevant, then please, Sweetie, take him to a vet. Or at least call and ask for advice, most of the time, advice is free.

My hamster is losing hair.?

maybe it has fleas. this is what happened to my cat. it had a bald patch but the skin was normal. the vet said it had fleas so he was scratching it all off but dont worry it will grow back if it's that. but if the skin is badit is probably a result from a dirty cage, bad food etc. take him to a vet straight away

My hamster is losing hair.?

TAKE HIM TO AN ANIMAL HOSPITAL RIGHT AWAY!!!!!!

My hamster is losing hair.?

This is called wet tail. Wet tail is when your hamster is in a very dirty cage, or he is having bacteria collecting in his food or water. You should take him to the vet, because the spray and medicine does not work that you buy form the store. I am sorry that your hamster has wet tail. I hope your vet can help!!!

My hamster is losing hair.?

UH OH you should take him to the vet right away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my hamster did that and i got really sick please go take it to the vet GOOD LUCK!!

My hamster is losing hair.?

All rodents are allergic to the oil in pine and cedar wood. If you are using any of this in the cage, stop immediately! These are symptoms of possible overexposure to these oils.

My hamster is losing hair.?

mites is what ide guess sudocream and a cotton bud worked for my guineas dab a bit on every few days and if it doesent make a difference ten take it to the vet

My hamster is losing hair.?

OMG why do people ask Qs like this?!?! just take him to the vet. FYI it's called abnormal hair loss!!!!!!!!!!

My hamster is losing hair.?

this could be anything, hair loss is indicative of a medical condition. Take him to a vet, ASAP!

My dog is losing hair!!!?

I have 3 dogs and one of them, my mini schnauzer is losing hair on her hips. She doesn't itch or scratch, it isn't red or hot, it's just missing. I'm wondering if it is stress. We have had life changes where people are suddenly not home as much as we used to be. This happened to her one time before, just one patch, but then the hair grew back. She doesn't have fleas and the other dogs don't have this problem. Any ideas???

My dog is losing hair!!!?

I agree with Madison. I am not a run to the vet kind of person but with her being older and not scratching and stuff... there is a chance it is something that needs the vet... like thyroid or even an allergy that developed over time :(

It bites. My hubby and I fight when he is in town, I told him the neighbors even knwo when he is back because the hair falls off my boogies back cause he feeds her CHEESE DOODLES... UGH!!!

My dog is losing hair!!!?

You need to have the dog evaluated by a vet to make sure it's not a medical condition causing the sudden hair lose. It could be a number of things (stress, mange, etc).

My dog is losing hair!!!?

That happens with one of my dogs sometimes if she isn't getting enough fat in her diet. We just make sure that we buy the kind with a lot of fat or we put some cooking oil on hers. It fixes itself in a few days to a week.

My dog is losing hair!!!?

Could be mange or an allergy

My dog is losing hair!!!?

Sounds like a repeat of the situation she had before, but I'd get her checked, just to make sure. If it's anxiety, there is medication for it, and she'll feel much better! KJL

My dog is losing hair!!!?

You may have to switch what dog food she eats. I would contact your locale vet to be sure.

My dog is losing hair!!!?

Vet.. i had kinda the same problem with my chihuahua.. they gave us some kinda liquid lotion and his hair is growing back..

My dog is losing hair!!!?

my dog has the same problem! hes 13, but it started back a few years ago. the vet thought it was because of old age, but he was tested for thyroid problems, and thats what it turned out to be. if i was you, take your dog to the vet just to be cautious!

My dog is losing hair!!!?

Some dogs have weaker immune systems than others, and they can get patches of demodectic mange. This is caused by a mite harboured by most dogs but only causes trouble in those whose immune systems aren't great. A skin scraping by your vet can tell you if that is the problem.

You do also need to have her thyroid tested, definitely.

You can do some things to bolster her system - get her on a food with anti-oxidants, give her omega-3 oil (fish oil), and make sure she is not allergic to anything she is eating.

For those patches of demodectic mange, if that's what it turns out to be, the common treatment is with ivermectin, which is a tough wormer, or you can consider using neem oil.

This was was suggested during a Tufts Veterinary Dermatology seminar by their dermatologist Lowell Ackerman, and it works!

I used it on my 4 year old Aussie rescue dog who had a patch of it over one eye - we don't like to use ivermectin in Aussies. I mixed the neem oil - gotten from the local health food store for about $10- with the same amount of olive oil. I applied the mixture on the spot twice a day, and after several days, the fur had started to grow back in. It's now all gone, and looks normal!

Where it is on her hips, you should put an E-collar on her for a while, or she'll just lick it off.

My dog had been to the vet, who had done a scraping and examined the sample - little demodex mites waving back at her.

The neem oil is a natural insecticide, and is used in organic gardening to get rid of aphids and mites on plants. But it is safe to use on dogs or humans.

Good luck - hope this helps!

My dog is losing hair!!!?

dogs molt hair at certain times of the year usualy towards spring andsummer time or due to seasonal mateing times. just groom the dog regularly and keep her happy and entertained these natural events could be flawd due to past breading paterns a slight genetic malfunction but maybe it will pass!

My dog is losing hair!!!?

It could be what's referred to as "Recurrent Flank Alopecia" or "Seasonal Flank Alopecia"

http://www.dermvet.com/caninesfalopecia....

It sounds odd, but from what I've read it has something to do with the shortened days in the winter months.

Maybe that's it?

My dog is losing hair!!!?

if she does not have fleas and is otherwise healthy you might want to think about her diet make sure you give her a good quality diet and also check that you are not over feeding her as this can result in extra hair loss as well as other problems give her a good quality easy to digest diet and make sure you do not feed her too much,

My dog is losing hair!!!?

I would say look at her diet. If there is no flea or skin condition i.e redness of weeping, try an organic type food but i would say, consult your vet. Look on-line at mini schnauzer and there contra-indications (problems).

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

i'm losing about bunch of hair it's like i have hairloss problem and i wash my hair everyday and wit shampoo and condisioner

wat's da problem???

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

You should only wash your hair every other day unless you have a very oily scalp.

Are you eating correctly? Not getting the correct vitamins and nurtients out of your food can cause hair loss. It can also be genetic.

And, on average, you shed 200-300 hairs a DAY!

EDIT TO ADD: It could also be hormones caused by puberty - if thats the cause they will level out and your hair will once again go back to normal.

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

never wash your hair every day ur suposed to every other day or its better every 2 days!!!!!!!

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

it might be ginetic

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

don't have a cow yet dude... i shed like crazy and i don't have any balding issues...

http://www.healthscout.com/ency/68/429/m...

some people just shed alot... when you shed, the shed hair is replaced.

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

are you eating?

it could be lack of protiens.

or maybe it runs in your family

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

umm... mayb ur balding

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

you might be washing it a little too much. if you shampoo AND condition everyday, it gets rid of some of the vitamins and naturally produced oil your body makes for your hair to stay healthy and strong. try shampooing every other day, and conditioning a little less. it may also be a medication you're taking (if you're taking one). don't freak, if it gets worse, see a doctor.

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

ok? thats weird! i'm 13 2 but my dosn't fall out.

go to the hair dresser or docter and find out if it is your shampoo %26amp; condishiner or if it is your health?

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

Thats interesting. It could be hereditary, or you are using the wrong kinds of shampoo and conditioner. i am also losing hair but not alot. People recomend that you use organic shampoos and eat healthy. Eating healthy helps keep hair healthy, losing hair is the first sign of an unhealthy diet.

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

There can be a few possibilities as to why you are loosing hair.

1) You're not really supposed to wash your hair every day.

2) The shampoo/conditioner may be too harsh for your scalp

3) I don't know if you're stressed out, but I remember back like when I first started high school (13/14yrs), I was really stressed and stress leads to hair loss.

You should talk to your parents/guardian and tell them what is happining because you never know. I wish you wellé–³?br>Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

hey! ok so yes only wash your hair every other day at the most! it's even better if you wait two days. The hair loss thing may be genetic, but also keep in mind that the human head loses about 800 hairs EVERYDAY!!! It's nothing to be all that stressed about.. don't worry! keep your confidence : ).

xx. Lauren

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

well your hair is supossed to shed once a year so yeah, my hair sheds but i aint going bald..dont worry, but if you straighten your hair alot or dye it then maybe thats the problem but dont wash your hair everyday, wash every other day

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

like they said before you could not be eating right and you allways lose hair

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

You're prolly using the wrong brand of conditioner.

Omg i'm losing hair and i'm only 13!!!?

my dad wwent to highschool with this guy (the thing in fantastic four) and was on his gymnastic team and he lost his hair in high school. 13s a little early though maybe your shedding????? good luck. i wash my hair and condition every day and itlooks better every day.

Im losing hair?

hi im very young but im losing alot f hair, how do i stop this n whats it caused by?

Im losing hair?

If you're losing hair, then you are probably doing to many things to your hair (curling, straightening, washing, brushing) The shiniest hair is sometimes the one that is brushed less. If you don't do any of this, talk your parents and visit your doctor.

Im losing hair?

If you are very young losing hair could mean that you're too way, waaay stressed. Are you stressed out about something? You can ask your doctor or you parents about this.

Im losing hair?

You can expect to lose around 60 hairs a day, by combing and washing etc. If you really are worried you should see you local GP. (Doctor)

Im losing hair?

henna , egg would be best

Im losing hair?

Losing hair can be due to not properly maintaining the hair and also having some medical problems.

You have to shampoo the hair at least once in a week and has to apply some oil or some hair cream and groom properly. If you wear hat or helmet then the situation will be worse.

Also see to that no dandruff in your hair. I lost half my hair due to dandruf and wearing helmet.

Also please check up with a doctor to find if there is any other problem with you.

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

Lately deal to some family problem, she is in very unstable condition with her emotion. And after the maid left, she took on all the house work and take care of the 2 kids(age 2 and 6). She wakes up every morning at 7am and work till very late night like 1- 2am. She also did not eat well or skip meals. The way she losing hair is scary...I know normal is 25 -100 a day. But her case is like atleast I think 300. Sad to see her losing hair like that...she refuse to see doctor at the moment. I really need some advise and views from all...

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

If she refuses to see a doctor, she won't be able to get help. It's probably a thyroid problem, brought on by her stressful lifestyle.

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

thyroid problems can cause hair loss and decreased appetite...you need to convince her to see a doctor

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

I was loosing hair like crazy, and the stress ending was not a option. I just cut it. That helped a lot. Now that it is shorter, it doesn't fall out near as much. Hope that helps!

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

you know why because she is stressing too much .i think she need a rest .

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

it could be a thyroid problem or a hormone imbalance

she really needs to go to the doctor!

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

High stress will cause her to lose her hair. Poor diet will also cause her to lose her hair, she needs to keep up on her protein in take. The good news is when the stress comes down and she is back to eating properly the damage that is being down will fix it's self.

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

I have a friend who at 35 has thinning hair. She uses Progaine and says it does work, albeit slowly.

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

She is carrying a load of stress upon her. First, she must conclude why she is unstable. This could require a therapist. Second, how about helping her with the chores, housework, kids, etc. The kids are old enough to put their toys and other things away. Start teaching them to help out with that as well. If you pitch in and make this a family affair, you can accomplish the tasks sooner and allow her time to rest.

You can also choose to do the chores for her on certain days to allow her rest. Doctors and medicine are not the only solution to these types of problem. It can lie much deeping. You helping her in many ways can restore her health.

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

I recieved this question many times working for a well known world wide company. I suggest she consider taking prenatal vitamans wich you can purchace for about 10$ at a drug store. They are great for nourishment especially if she is not eating right. I would also check to see if she changed conditioner. Some conditioners can actually break hair immensley. Another vitamin specifically for hair that I've seen work in about a month is FOLICURE at Sally Beauty Supply for about 14$ Good luck!

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

It sounds like this is a lifestyle condition versus a disease. Perhaps you can help her with the housework and children and cooking.

One other medical condition that hasn't been mentioned yet is alopecia (areata, totalis and universalis).

My wife has been losing hair fast lately...anyway to help?

Hi,

Seems like hers is probably due to stress and a lack of sleep.

There are few ways you can help and take good care of her:

- get her some health foods to supplement her health and to make up for the energy that she uses. If her health is back to balance, she will stop losing hair...

- constantly tell her tat you love her and that you can understand her sacrifice for the family

- get her this shower filter tat i am using. It filters away the chlorine and so I no longer drop so much hair when I shower.

Kitten losing hair!! help.?

Recently I brought home a stray kitten and nursed her back to health, which i have done before. I have numerous animals, all of whom I love dearly. Recently she started losing hair on her tail and now her head. Otherwise she is healthy and very happy. My husband says its mange but im not so sure. Anyone have any ideas? I hate to pay outragous vet bills if this is a simple problem (been there done that).

Kitten losing hair!! help.?

yes

Kitten losing hair!! help.?

could be ring worm ..but why have animals if you don't want to care for them properly by taking to the vet ??

Kitten losing hair!! help.?

Sorry hun I think you will have to take your kitten to the vet.

Kitten losing hair!! help.?

It might be ringworm, that's usually what it will look like in a cat. You can try some extra strength Lotrimin and give it about a week. If she doesn't lose any more hair and the spots look a little better continue to use it for about another week to 10 days. Also be real careful because this is extremely contagious and both you and your other animals can get it. It might be best if you took it to the vet and asked them just to LOOK at it. Not bloodwork and all that. An office visit just to look should be less than 30 dollars, just call around.

Kitten losing hair!! help.?

Yes chicken and rice is an excellent diet for dogs, not heard of it for cats though, I'm pretty sure you will need an ointment of the vets to rub on the places she is losing hari so unfortunatly this is probley your only option.

Kitten losing hair!! help.?

Yep, I think a trip to the vets might be needed on this occasion - hair loss generally denotes an itchy, maybe painful skin condition, and unless it's diagnosed accurately the treatment won't necessarily help - it may even end up making things worse!

No-one likes the extortionate fees vets charge, but at the end of the day, it's part of the responsibility of animal ownership to do/pay whatever is required to keep them healthy and happy.

Hope you get it sorted!

Kitten losing hair!! help.?

I am 23 and losing hair like crazy. What can I do? HELP!?

I am 23 and losing hair like crazy? I just had my second child 3 months ago, if that has anything to do with it. Before I got pregnant I would lose hair all the time but not like this. What can I do?

I am 23 and losing hair like crazy. What can I do? HELP!?

It could be genetic, or a result of an illness. The longer you wait...the more you will lose.

Hormonal problems may cause hair loss. If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss.

Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones. During pregnancy, high levels of certain hormones cause the body to keep hair that would normally fall out. When the hormones return to pre-pregnancy levels, that hair falls out and the normal cycle of growth and loss starts again.

Some medicines can cause hair loss. This type of hair loss improves when you stop taking the medicine. Medicines that can cause hair loss include blood thinners (also called anticoagulants), medicines used for gout, medicines used in chemotherapy to treat cancer, vitamin A (if too much is taken), birth control pills and antidepressants.

Certain infections can cause hair loss. Fungal infections of the scalp can cause hair loss in children. The infection is easily treated with antifungal medicines.

Finally, hair loss may occur as part of an underlying disease, such as lupus or diabetes. Since hair loss may be an early sign of a disease, it is important to find the cause so that it can be treated.

I am 23 and losing hair like crazy. What can I do? HELP!?

Get thyroid checked

I am 23 and losing hair like crazy. What can I do? HELP!?

jeez, it could be something in your diet or the lack there of. Go to the doctor, and figure it out! there are a lot of treatment options. Im not sure how much hair you are losing, but it is not unusual to loose it in the winter time as a shedding kinda thing

I am 23 and losing hair like crazy. What can I do? HELP!?

See your doctor. See a nutritionist. See a naturopath.

I am 23 and losing hair like crazy. What can I do? HELP!?

it could mean that you are not healthy.

i am no doctor, so you need to go see a professional as soon as you can.

I am 23 and losing hair like crazy. What can I do? HELP!?

It is normal to lose your hair after giving birth... I lost so much that I dreaded brushing my hair. What can you do? Not sure, but I did notice that after getting pregnant again, my hair got stronger. The hair loss will stop by the time your baby is a year old.

I am 23 and losing hair like crazy. What can I do? HELP!?

This is a problem that likely has to do with your diet. Sounds like your body has become a toxic place, meaning your body is screaming out to be fed nutritious whole foods and be cleansed of toxins. Parasites, chemicals, and waste are clouding your system and causing these unfortunate side effects.

You need to go on an all organic diet of whole fruits and veggies, herbal teas, and nutrient rich organic proteins. You should also think about how your body "eliminates" waste. Hair loss is most often caused by a back-up of waste in the system. When the body has a difficult time eliminating, then old, rancid waste just sits rotting in your system. The natural side effect is clogged pores, acne, dark bags under your eyes, horrible breath, bloating, brittle nails, hair breakage and HAIR LOSS.

Put yourself on an all organic diet and see a colonist immediately.

Female 18 I'm losing my hair its really curl. what can I so my hair can grow?

I lose a lot of hair when I take a bath. I dye, my hair and sure geland hair spairy. please help. thank you.

Female 18 I'm losing my hair its really curl. what can I so my hair can grow?

I have really curly hair also, i loose a lot in the shower but my hair is so thick you can't really tell.. its normal to loose 100-200 hairs a day, so if you don't brush it but in the morning, than you are going to loose a lot of it in the morning.

Female 18 I'm losing my hair its really curl. what can I so my hair can grow?

stop taking meth

Female 18 I'm losing my hair its really curl. what can I so my hair can grow?

you are probably no losing as much as you think; everyone loses hair when they take a shower or brush their hair. it's normal. but if you really think you are losing a lot of hair you might want to go see doctor

Female 18 I'm losing my hair its really curl. what can I so my hair can grow?

Go to a doctor and get it checked out. It may be the dye, usually gel and hairspray is not known for hair loss, but who you knows you may be having a bad reaction to the dye causing your hair follicles to become damaged. Only a doctor will be able to tell you for sure if it is something you are doing or if its genetic.

Female 18 I'm losing my hair its really curl. what can I so my hair can grow?

There is a SLIGHT chance you have female balding issues.. This really does happen to women too. Yet, don't worry. Your problem is that you have messed with your hair way too much!! Dying, curling, heating ect. Leave it alone 100% and you should see a change.

Im losing hair on the back of my legs?

I have had hairy legs most of my life...Now im losing hair on the back of my legs. What should i do? Can the problem be fixed?

Im losing hair on the back of my legs?

It's usually from friction, your long pants or shorts rub the hairs right off. It happens. If you wear looser pants and shorts it chould reduce the friction so the hairs can grow back.

Pit losing hair?

My One year old Pit bull is losing hair in Patches. He has one by his chin and 2 on his neck and one above his eye. I'm not sure if this is normail or should i take him to the Vet?

Please Help me... He's my baby.

Pit losing hair?

It sounds like Demodectic mange, which is very common in this breed.

Where did you get him? A shelter?

I would take him to the Vet, and ask to have skin scrapings done .

That's the only way to know what it truly is.

Pit losing hair?

Aww, so sorry.

There could several reasons

mange

dermatitis,

allergies.

Yes, take your baby to the vet!

Pit losing hair?

By all means, do take your baby to the vet; it could be sand fleas, not to mention some type of Mange.

Pit losing hair?

aw, im really sorry about your pitbull. however, there can be a reasonably explanation for this. it would be best if you take him to the veterinarian to get checked. there can be so many reasons to this problem and honestly, im not sure. i'll need more information to actually know the problem. there can be a problem w/ his skin (rash, hair loss). this is a very common problem found in a lot of dogs of any types. how long has this been going on? if its been going on for quite a long time, its so much better if you take him to the veterinarian. if it didnt start long ago, you should still take him to the vet but wait a little because even if it's a serious problem, you need to observe and make sure everything's fine. i understand that he's your baby and im very and dearly sorry. there's not much i can say only on taking him to the vet. i know how you feel. im very overprotective over my baby and wherever i go, i always think about him. its hard to think of a dog being in a hard condition. i promise everything will be fine. obviousely, the vet will treat him as best as they can and you'll be happy and so will he. take some time on helping him before it gets worse. by the way, i just thought of other reasons. this could also be fleas or ticks. you know what would help? give him a bath. buy some kind of medical shampoo and give him a nice and clean bath. let the shampoo sit for a while...maybe for at least 2 minutes or more depending on how big he is. after, wash all the shampoo off and make sure it's ALL off because leaving over left over shampoo is bad plus its bad enough for your baby afterall he's losing fur. wait at least a day and see what happens. if it is still going on or gets worse, i'd highly suggest taking him to the vet.

Pit losing hair?

If and when you do take him to the vet ask them to test for ringworm.

Cat losing hair ontop of nose?

My cat has been losing hair directly above her nose. Though she doesn't seem irritated by it, and it's not scabbed or anything, I wonder if it's something we should be worried about, or if it's completely normal?

Cat losing hair ontop of nose?

It could possibly be ringworm. Watch to see if it spreads. If it does get some anti fungal cream from the drugstore to rub on it although the cat will more than likely lick the cream off. I had a cat who's hair loss started on his ears and then his nose and it was ringworm. I took him to the vet and he gave me some anti-fungal shampoo and I did rub some cream on him but it was in places that were hard to reach for him. Ringworm is also contagious so be careful. Clean your house to get rid of spores. Ringworm is a fungus and not an actual worm.

Cat losing hair ontop of nose?

she may just be rubing her nose too hard on things.

if it gets worse then go to the vet! but for now you're safe!

Thinning/losing hair?

Thinning/losing hair?

a good woman will not care about the amount of hair on your head. just be secure in who you are on the inside, and you will be fine

Cat losing hair!?

My cat is 8 years old (will be 9 next month), and she's losing her fur around the end of her body (close to tail and hindlegs). We are planning to take her to the vet again, but we can't afford it until a week or so. Are there any home remdies to help grow the hair back?? Please help! My sister thinks it's age.

Cat losing hair!?

The hair loss can be to flea allergy like the other suggested, but it could be allergic reaction to anything or it can be stress related.

Is she chewing or overgrooming that area causing the hair loss? This could be mostly a stress reaction, but could be to a parasite that is bothering her, too.

If the hair is just falling out, I would think it is more of a skin problem and they are numerous.

Have you changed type or brand of litter or one with a fragrance? Are you using a different carpet or floor cleaner? For the area of hair loss, I am thinking it could be a contact allergy and this would be the area of her body it would affect first.

Don't worry, 8 years is not old...my 'baby' is 8 and the oldest is 16, with a 10 and 14 yo in between.

Purrs to you and kitty.

Cat losing hair!?

Hi Field Daisy,

You are so welcome. Hope the fur loss is nothing serious.

Purrs,

Patty Report It

Cat losing hair!?

mange or a hotspot

Cat losing hair!?

DONT KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY HOME REMEDIES IF SHE IS IRRITATED TRY SOME OATMEAL SHAMPOO A MEDICATED SHAMPOO SHE MAY HAVE A TYPE OF MANGE SO IF YOU HAVE OTHER ANIMALS KEEP THEM AWAY FROM ONE ANOTHER

Cat losing hair!?

Nine years is not all that old for a cat. I have 3 twelve year old cats that are still going strong. A few years ago one of them had this hair loss pattern. The hair grew back and she has not had the problem since then. It sounds like hormonal hair loss to me because of its location. Have you checked her for fleas? It could be a flea allergy. I doubt that it's anything to worry about.

Cat losing hair!?

My cat did that in the exact same place. and it ended up being an allergy to flea bites. which happens more in the fall and spring, and fleas like to bite right in that area of the animals, so you should take it to a vet as soon as you can, but I can tell you mine grew back the hair very quickly. I will just have to give him extra flea protection. Until you take her in, just keep an eye on her and if it begins to look too serious, get her in immediately.

Cat losing hair!?

Check for fleas. Many cats lose their fur because of flea allergies.

I don't think it's age. Eight is not that old for a cat.

My sister's cat lost fur once because of stress and lack of sunlight from hiding in the basement from the new dog all the time. Is there a new stressor in her life?

Cat losing hair!?

My cat lost hair due to the stress of moving 3 times in as many months. Is/are there new stresses in her life? It grew back, though.

Cat losing hair!?

I agree with that other person - hotspot. I had a cat do this and she was like 10 years old. It was just an itchy spot that they won't leave alone because it's irritating them. Call and ask them if there is a benadryl or something like that to put on it until you get the cat in to see the vet. If you can control the itch, they'll leave it alone and it will heal.

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

All of the sudden I feel like im losing a lot of hair. Im young girl, healthy,%26amp; I take a multi vitamin daily. Im underweight for my age, but not under nurished. Lately I find my hairs in the shower, in my bed. I Dyed my hair fairly constantly for 8 years but i havent touched it in more then a year. I also just cut off the split ends, my hair is long, but its thinner then it has been at least I think so. So why am I losing hair?%26amp; what can I do so I can keep it long and thick?

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

Don't get to worried, It is fall and hair falls out with the seasons. You are loosing hair now because it is fall. It will stop soon , grow thicker again in winter. and shed again in the spring. then grow thicker in summer. that;s all normal. It happens to me and all woman and men too. Also if you have a real stressful situation for A while ( What ever it may be) And then the situation is over and life go's on. You will find that 2 or 3 months after the fact your hair will fall out for A couple weeks. then it will stop. It's because what ever the stress was at the time, And what ever your body went through damaged the follicles. It just takes A couple months for your body to fell and repair the damage....

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

Maybe you are stressed and probably use a treatment to help with these problems that you are having.

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

Maybe you are losing a lot of hair all of a sudden.

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

I have been banging my head on the bed post lately...

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

thats been happenging to me too especially in the shower i like lose alot of hair and i dunno why and also i see a lot of my hair on the floor and stuff it had stopped falling for a while but then all of a sudden it starting falling again...i would also like to know why im losing my hair...

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

stress and lack of nutrients...

i used to have thick hair...

but now, it is less than half it was years back...

i lost it due to stress...and somehow...it never grew back...

do something about your diet...

and stay positive...

Good luck!

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

Fear not everyone... as winter approaches, animals shed their "summer coat" for a winter coat that is thicker.

Humans do something similar... we're all losing a bit more hair due to the seasonal changes. You'll probably go through this again in the spring.

Meanwhile, grab that hair before it hits the drain and help your folks avoid hair clogs. Slap it up against the shower wall and the after your shower, collect it in a tissue and toss it in the trash.

Hair clogs are the WORST and very gross to clean out of a trap.

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

as people age we tend to start losing more and more hair it also could be the time of year as well the winter is coming up fast on us

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

to make it thick, i would try a volumizing conditioner..do you use conditioner or hair serums? they help, and sunsilk helps too..do you tie your hair up every day? because if you do, your hair is pulled back, and is easier to fall out. also, if you comb your hair often, hair will fall out a lot, too..and when you say 'dye' do you mean the stuff that you do yourself (in the shower, with the dye and the comb and shower cap) or do you go to a salon? because dyeing your hair dries out your hair, which may be why its thin...

hope it helped!

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

Try different shampoos/conditioners. Purchase a shampoo that promises volume and rinse, reapply, and rinse again. As we age, our hair follicles tend to restrict individual hair fibers and they become thinner.

If it continues... see a doctor.

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

Could be alopecia. My sister and one of her friends both experienced great hair loss. Her friend when she was in high school and my sister a few years out of high school. Can't remember exactly what was used to treat it but I know you generally at least take Rogain. Monitor it and go see a doctor if it gets worse.

Why do I feel like im losing a lot hair all the sudden?

stress, sometimes your hair root is not strong enough to support long hair...... take vegetables, fruits, good shampoo, and plenty of water.

I am 16 years old and losing hair... i am i going bald?

I am 16 year old male, background is south asian. And i have been losing alot of hair! my hair loss startd almost 2 years ago.. after i lost alot of wieght almost 40 45 pounds in 2 months ( with no exxcersie) after this my diet was not proper. I notice that i can see my scapl now and underlight i can see alot of my scalp esspcialy when my hair is oily or wet. I am only 16 and i am worried i might be going bald... i was reading this might be a temperary hair loss. will this be pernent and will i go bald with in my early 20's?

I am 16 years old and losing hair... i am i going bald?

Yeah dude, losing a massive amount of weight, like you did, in such a short amount of time, which you also did, can be very bad for your body. You seriously need to go the doctors on this one. You screwed something up when you lost all that weight so fast, and now your body isn't functioning properly. Just go in and tell them whats going on with your hair and the weight loss and they will be able to help you. You seriously need to think twice before you go and decide to do something like this again.

I am 16 years old and losing hair... i am i going bald?

are u sick or something like do u have cancer or someother medical problem?

I am 16 years old and losing hair... i am i going bald?

don't worry when you lose alot of weight in a short time this happens... alot of anorexic people will lose hair like this so just make sure you are still eating healthy but im sure its just the weight change

I am 16 years old and losing hair... i am i going bald?

i was like that i was going bald when i was at 4th grade till i go to the doctors then they gave me something to keep it from falling.

I am 16 years old and losing hair... i am i going bald?

"no,i am perfectly healthy, ive been taking centrum multi-vitman for just ver a month now too"

You're losing your hair. That means you're NOT "perfectly healthy". Taking a vitamin doesn't make you "healthy". You should be getting the vitamins your body needs from the food you eat. Vitamins are only supposed to supplement that, not replace it. That's why they're called "supplements".

If there's something wrong with your body or you're concerned about something, you need to see a doctor. It's that simple. Never look for medical advice on the internet. It's too important to be relying on people who don't necessarily know what they're talking about.

I am 16 years old and losing hair... i am i going bald?

It has something to do with your diet I guess. No matter how you want to lose weight, don't take a balanced diet for granted. I also experienced that before. I tried to lose weight by refraining myself from eating a healthy. In no time i lost weight and I also had a tremendous hair loss. But fortunately i found the right solution. Why is my hamster losing hair and drinking a lot of water?

My hamster is 2 1/2 years old and has in the past month or so been losing hair. I mean he is dramatically losing hair. It's thin around his face, almost gone on his tummy, and it's thin on his back. There are patches on his back where it is gone.

Also, he is sleeping all the time and he seems to be drinking a lot of water. His pee also smells pretty bad.

Does anybody know what is wrong with him and what I should do? I can't take him to the vet because I live in a small town and there isn't a small animal vet. The vets around here don't deal with anything smaller than cats. The closest vet that would take care of my hamster is an hour away and my parents don't believe that it is worth it to drive that far.

Is there anything I can do?

Why is my hamster losing hair and drinking a lot of water?

its getting old and losing its hair. it drinks water more becuase u hardly give it any and it wants to savore the taste.

Why is my hamster losing hair and drinking a lot of water?

Prepare yourself for the worst Sara. Sounds like your old buddy is nearing death.

Why is my hamster losing hair and drinking a lot of water?

Hamster hair loss is common with old age. If its drinking a lot of water and its pee smells bad, he or she is probably dehydrated. I'm sorry to say that this comes with old age, and truly there is nothing you can do...

Why is my hamster losing hair and drinking a lot of water?

All hamsters,Guinea pigs, and furry rodents shed

fur all year round. And they drink a lot as well it not a bad thing because I've had a lot of guunea pigs.

Why is my hamster losing hair and drinking a lot of water?

Keeping it clean and always providing fresh water is a good start. Look into getting some vitamin treats for it and make sure there are no fleas in the house... if it is getting flea bites from any where it can be very hard on them. tempt it to eat by offering favorite foods... high in moisture not dry. That will aide in preventing dehydration. If your feed supply store has "electrolites" as a suppliment you could try that... by drinking them it will rebalance the animals system... it may help... best of luck

Why is my hamster losing hair and drinking a lot of water?

this happens to most hammys that reach an old age,

he is just old, all old animals drink lots of water and all my past hammys lost hair when they got to about 2-3 years old,

2 1/2 is a good old age for a hamster but mines lived for about another 6-8 months once they started losing hair so you have a while yet with him

hope he gets on okay! =(

Why is my hamster losing hair and drinking a lot of water?

Losing hair and drinking a lot is a common sign of mites. You can get a spray or mousse for rodents (my mouse specialist uses one for ferrets but they do exist for rodents) and use it carefully following directions. Try not to get it on their faces near their eyes, noses, and mouth. Rub all over the hamster well so the skin is wet. Do this over your bed because the little guy might panic and jump. Make sure it can dry quickly, like with as heater on or keep it in your hands.

If it has any cagemates they must be treated too. And you must do it again in two weeks because the spray does not kill the eggs which will hatch later.

Of course, like others have written, it might be old age. But the concurrent water drinking makes me think of mites.

Why is my hamster losing hair and drinking a lot of water?

Im sorry to say but it seem to me that your going tolose your hamster soon :( This happened to my friend and she lost t a few months later :O :(
