My hamster is losing hair.?

My hamster is losing his hair, and under the hair there is red bald spots on his skin is this normal? or does anybody know what it is, how I can treat it?

I have several questions and maybe one you might be able to diagnose what the problem is with your dear hamster.

Which bedding do you use? Cedar or Pine are dangerous and can cause hair loss or respiratory disease.

Is he getting corn in his diet? Odd but true, if the hamster doesn't get corn he WILL lose his hair.

Mite infestation? Check his fur and clean his bedding.

Fleas do not cause this kind of hair loss in rodents.

If none of these questions are relevant, then please, Sweetie, take him to a vet. Or at least call and ask for advice, most of the time, advice is free.

maybe it has fleas. this is what happened to my cat. it had a bald patch but the skin was normal. the vet said it had fleas so he was scratching it all off but dont worry it will grow back if it's that. but if the skin is badit is probably a result from a dirty cage, bad food etc. take him to a vet straight away
