my dog is losing hair right along his back. it is an almost bald area, about 2 inches long and 1/2 an inch wide. should i be concerned?

I would take the dog to the vet, it my be an allergy, my dog started itching and losing her hair on her back, and it turned out to be allergies, allergies to what we haven't figured out yet.

Yes, you should be concerned! You would be concerned if you had a bald spot on your head that was 2 inches long and 1/2 an inch wide.

It could be ringworm or mange. Take your pet to the vet.

Is your dog old-dogs can go bald with age? Mange will cause a dog to get bald spots -mange is related to scabies- you should have it looked at by a vet.

I would take him to the vet to get a skin test. I had a dobie that had lost some hair and the vet said it was dermamites. They dipped him and he was fine. Good Luck!
