My puppies are losing hair. what's going on?

i've read that losing hair may be cause by mange or stress. i have a fawn and white pit bull and a black pit younger than a year. what could it be and what is the best course of action.

im not sure if i can afford a vet immediately so i want to know other options first...

Well unfortunately, there are no miracle cures for hairloss... there's no such thing as "doggy rogaine".

If you want your dog to get better, if you cared about them at all, and if you don't want that disease to run rampant over both your dogs and through your house, then you need to get them medical assistance.

I hate to say it, because I TOTALLY know what it feels like to be broke, your dogs need some help, and there's nothing you can do at home to fix it.

If it is mange it will spread to the other dogs in the house and end up costing you more in the long run. Only a vet can do a skin scraping and correctly diagnose if it is mange and what type as well as prescribe the correct treatment to correct the issue. I had a young pit x before who was a stray and had mange, he started losing his hair on his head and face and there were bumpy areas in the hair loss spots...he had to be treated by the vet there is nothing you can do at home to treat it. I know being short money is hard but you either need to borrow from a family member or give up your dogs to the shelter...not treating a hair loss/skin condition will only let it get worse and spread and if a mange condition gets that severe where the dog is covered and hairless it is almost a guaranteed thing that they will have to be put down plus your dogs are suffering with the itchiness it causes.

Oh stop being cheap and take your dog to the vet. There are vets that will take monthly payments. Get a second job if you have to, but your dog has the right BY LAW to receive proper care. Losing hair is NOT normal. There can be many causes: skin problem, thyroid problem, gland problem, etc. Your dog needs to see the vet! That is part of the responsibility of pet ownership. If you cannot properly care for your pet then you do not have the right to have one.

If you can afford a cell phone with its monthly payments, or new shoes, or a pizza then you can afford a trip to the vet. It's all a question of priorities.
