After illness losing my hair and it won't grow?

I was seriously ill in July and since then I have lost over 50 pounds and my hair which use to be thick and long is now short and falling out alot. What can II do to help it grow back to the beautiful thick hair I had, keep it from falling out, and grow again in length? Can stress also be a factor?

Stress and illness form a big factor, just like unhealthy diets can do. When you were ill and stressed, it has effect on your hair due to the tension it caused in the blood vessels. Also, missing vital nutrients, vitamins, minerals, etc. that were used to cure your illness and cope with the stress were taken away from other parts of your body, and one of the most visable effects you have is on your hair.

The best thing you can do is getting your food intake balanced again and making sure you rest a lot, drink a lot of water and eat healthy foods.

Wash and condition your hair, stay away from chemical treatments like coloring, bleaching, perming, etc.

The best thing you can do in case you don't know what nutrients you have to take is to visit a doctor and take a blood sample, so they can analyse it in a lab and see what is missing in your blood or at a too low/too high level.

Go to the doctor who took care of you for your illness and see what they can do for you. If you want your hair to be beautiful now...buy some nice wigs. You could be a blonde one day and a redhead the next. Stress is part of your problem and maybe the other part is the lasting effects of your illness. See the doctor for something to help you either relax or cleanse your system of the toxins that were in it. Good luck.

My daughter had kemo therapy for cancer and lost her hair when she was 12. I grew back very slowly. She is 22 now and has gorgeous hair. Give it time, you'll be fine. I'm sorry you were sick, stress probably can be a factor, try to relax and have fun and hang out with positive people. Good luck!

Nioxin

Nioxin was developed for cancer patients and moved on to the general public. You can find it in salons. You want to get it in a set. The set consists of cleanser, scalp therapy (conditioner) and follicle booster.

It works AWESOME! I had lost all of my hair due to stress. I started using nioxin and my hair grew back very quickly. The human hair naturally grows out at the rate of .25 inches a month and the average hair loss in a day is 100 hairs.

You can have hair in no time.

Don't be ashamed of the fact that you have a problem. It gave me a new perspective on how cancer patients feel. Use wigs if you like, or scarfs or dew rags, or just go ow-natural if weather permits. Confidence is a powerful builder in self-esteem. Don't let your ailments take that away from you.

Good Luck and Great Hair!
