If i stop wearing at hat, will i stop losing hair?

First of all, I would Like to start by saying that i am 23 years old and my family doesnt have much of a history or hair loss, especially this early in life. I have recently noticed on the front top of my head, my hair seems to be thinning ever so slightly. I am recently out of college, and since high school I have been wearing hats alot. Is this the cause? If i stop wearing hats, will my hair get thicker in that area? In all honesty i havent really noticed much hair loss, and its bairly visible, I am kinda being paranoid. What else should i do, Do i really need to start Rogaine at 23 with no family balding?. Please any help will do.

Try Rogaine or Propecia. They can help you.

Rogaine (Minoxidil) is used for promoting hair regrowth in patients who are experiencing gradually thinning hair or gradual hair loss on the top of the head.

Propecia (Finasteride) is used to treat male pattern hair loss.

Good luck!

you be bald by 40

probably isnt helping. same thing with women who pull their hair back into a ponytail everyday. eventually you will have breakage and damage hair growth.

Only if you wear a wig instead.

It can't hurt and may well help a lot.

What's to lose???

If you keep WEARING the HAT you will loose your hair you need to let your hair breahthe.

I would ditch the hats. Constantly wearing them can wear down the hair.

as long as its not insanely tight, you shouldnt worry about it. relax and dont stress so much!!

Very true , wearing a cap or a hat will hurt your hair badly thats because when you sweat , the sweat arisinf from your hed will get absorbed by the cap or hat and percolated in to your hair so please stop doing that

I wouldnt use a hair growth treatment.I would definatly stop wearing hats.It causes major hair loss becaue the hair cant breath like it supose to.

maybe you should stop wearing the hats, but if its already thinning that may not stop it. I notice that alot of men who wear hats/caps daily are thin at the top, but i wasn't sure which came first the hair thining out or the hat. Course if it continues you could always go bald....it's sexy you know.

start on the Rogaine now, hats have nothing to do with it.

im not sure if hats have anything to do with it. try and see what happens. also if you tie your hair up alot, that speeds up hair loss.

yes, btw..."bairly"? what school did you attend, baldy?

First it may just be in your genes nothing you can do about it.You may want to go to a Deratologist to make sure you dont have a skin problem.Other wise we just have to live with it.

Rograine is Okay

Also it will help if you keep your hair shorter. When it is more than about one and a half inches long your hair will break off or fall out faster.

I also suggest you see your Dr just to make sure this is not because of something else

I am no expert but I am a girl and hair is so important. It has always been said that when your hair rubs against rough texturted things that it will pull your hair out so maybe if you put a scarf or do rag to cover your hair you could still wear your hats. Also if your hair is thinning you should go to a beauty supply store and ask for something that will thicken your hair. I used to use Paul michell on my daughters hair because it wasn't thick on the edges and her hair restored beautifully. Let me know how it turns out.

Well wearing hat doesn't matter. I have very thick hair and i have been wearing a hat since a long time. And hairfall can be stopped by one way i know-- apply oil on ur hair and keep it on for 2 WHOLE DAYS. after that wash it. it will work. or u can also see if u have dandruff because much hairfall is due to dandruff. If so, get dandruff special shampoo.

And 1 more thing....use a brush to comb ur hair not a comb.

well look at your mothers dad if he is bald you will be that is a proven fact. second no that is a myth you can wear a hat everyday of your life and it wont contribute to that. thinning hair is natural in all males it just happens, just because you are loosing a little doesnt mean that you are going to go bald. relax i am sure u are the only one that can even tell! : )

Unfortunately not buddy. I'm 40 now and have resorted finally to shaving my head. I now don't really care about wearing hats and if I'll lose the rest of my hair. If anything, I have found it fun to start collecting hats and experimenting with different shaving techniques and patterns...even colour. You can try rogaine or something equal and this will help keep the hair you have, but there not really good at growing new hair. I know how hard it must be for you at 23...the same time I started losing mine....and to boot, I was a hairdresser! I think once you accept the inevitable, you realize that shaved heads can be really sexy, convenient, and fun. Whatever you do, don't turn into one of those guys with a comb-over, who thinks he's pulling one on everybody....if anything, this tells people exactly how insecure you really are and it also looks real dumb. I'm all for wigs, hats, do rags, hoodies etc. and also like just going out without anything. I've even been thinking about a tattoo up there...why not! Good luck Buddy and I hope you come to terms and simply just go with the flow....most guys look "hot" with a shaved head or short crew cut...sure you would be the same.

heres the deal, the hats aren't causing you to lose your hair, they are breaking the hair off causing it to look thinner. lay off the hats and use a thickening shampoo. its only a temporary fix but will help day to day. a couple times a week use a good clairifying shampoo to strip the chemicals and residue thats left from the other shampoo, this will help the thickening to "work" better. good luck.

First off yes it will help because even the hair root needs oxygen to function at it's best.

Stress, not scrubbing %26amp; rinsing your scalp, some meds, etc. can all play into it as well. Take your fingers %26amp; try to lift your scalp in that area. It should be loose %26amp; easy to lift. If it feels tight your root isn't getting enough oxygen. So you need a heat cap.

You can pay a beautician or do it yourself. After cleansing %26amp; rinsing your hair until squeaky apply a thick conditioner to the scalp. The kind of hair conditioner you find in a jar instead of a bottle. Wal-Marts has one called Queen Helene Cholesterol Conditioner for 3 or 4 bucks. It doesn't have to be a name brand, just thick.

Now massage your scalp (in particular that area) in a kneading motion lifting %26amp; releasing the scalp for 10 mins. or so. Place a plastic cap over it to hold in the warmth for about a half hour then rinse. If necessary you can shampoo it out but make sure all the shampoo is out. Do this at minimum every week for 4-6 wks. Then every 4-6 wks. after that. During the day when you think about it knead it some more. Before you realize it you'll begin to see new growth unless it's hereditary. Always use a comb when wet.

I did this for one elderly lady that assumed her hair had thinned with age. You could rat tease her hair %26amp; still see huge clumps of baldness. By the time I graduated cosmetology school her hair was still thin (it had been most of her life) but you couldn't see the scalp at all even when it was wet %26amp; it was fuller.

I've used this method on others with less dramatic hair loss, including myself %26amp; every time it has encouraged new growth, even in a few that it was hereditary. So it's definitely worth the effort.

Plus if you must wear a hat either buy those that allow air to circulate or frequently take them off %26amp; knead the scalp so they can breathe a bit.
