I'm losing my hair and scared.?

i went on accutane to clear up acne which i had been dealing with on and off since i was around 16. it worked but after i went off the course for the past two months my hair has been falling out pretty steadily. i dunno if it will stop but my temples have receeded and there is a bald spot forming on the back of my head. i still have most of my hair and can wear it long but it just comes out so easily when i touch it and i would say i lose anywhere from 10-30 strands in the shower every day. my hair is just starting to get really thin and i'm really really scared, i mean i'm only 21 yearsold. i'm just scared and want to break down and cry sometimes over it.

Don't worry- your hair will grow back in. It's probably not because of the face wash- why would something you put on your face effect your hair? Just be easy with it- try changing the shampoo you have to something that will strength your hair- garnier?

get a wig.

I'm losing my hair and scared.?

aww sweetie, it is probably related to the accutane regimen...if this condition persists for another few weeks, you should consider going to the doctor to consider if there are other problems which may be related (i.e. vitamin deficiency in diet, etc.)...it's gonna be okay! mwah

99.9 percent of hair-loss is hereditary so blame the gene pool!! The other .1 percent is illness, medicine and diet. Try using a product call nioxin. It is a shampoo and a scalp treatment. It is a bit expensive but it will help to keep what you have. I would not blame the accutane on your hair-loss I don't think that has a lot to do with it. On average we lose about five-hundred strand a day through out the whole body. Keep you diet filled with omega 3 vitamins (salmon, albacore tuna, and romaine lettuce) that will encourage new hair growth. And make sure when you wash your hair to use the pads of your fingers not the nails and massage your scalp gently for blood flow stimulation. Unfortunately hair loss may run in your family and could be inevitable for you. Best of luck!

check your shampoo and make sure it does not contain Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate or TEA-Lauryl Sulfate as these are known to inhibit circulation to your hair follicles which will cause the follicals to die. You could use baby shampoo or soap which does not contain Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, and you should always massage your scalp for ten minutes a day. It is normal to lose hair every day and it is normal for some men to get a receeding hair line from the age of 19. Sorry to say.

it could be an allergic reaction. that will happen sometimes with anything really. my hair falls out like that if i eat raw like a lot of raw tomatoes.

be patient and if it seems to get worse then you can (not being mean) shave it (so when it grow backs its all one even length) and buy a temporary wig.

It looks like you have asked several questions related to your hair loss.

When you find out the reason why is it falling you will find a solution to stop the problem.

Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:

Tension

Too much work

Illness

Poor diet

Over-exposure to the sun

Perming

Amateur bleaching

Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants

Hormonal problems

Hereditary (in the genes)

Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall

Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.

A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.

Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.

Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.

Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!

ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.

A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.

VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.

COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.

Also the best you can do is to visit a dermatologist. He can run some tests on you and find out what exactly the problem is. You might have some of the problems mentioned above.

Hate to say but it might happen to guys as young as you. The dermatologist is the only one that can determine your problem and give you treatment. Get an appointment ASAP!
