She doesn't have fleas and she is not and outside cat at all

but in the spots where the hair is missing, it looks like it has been sore and scabby. I gave her a bath and it looks a bit better but other than that I'm not sure what it might be.

It sounds like your kitty might have ringworm- a fungus that is very common in both cats and humans. A vet can make a definite diagnosis- treatment is pretty simple, over the counter anti-fungal cream from the drugstore (Lotrimin) is usually what they will tell you to use. Be very carefull- ringworm is highly contagious (although, it is NOT a worm, it is a fungus!)! Make sure to wash hands thouroughly after touching the kitty until all fungus is gone.

It could be a number of things, cats are very fickle animals. Indoor cats are prone to stress and depression, they can lick at their skin and bite and pull their own fur out when bored or upset.

It sounds like ringworm. Be careful because you can also contract it...although don't panic too much, it's just a rash, not a worm.
