Doberman pinscher losing hair?

i have a 6 month old red doberman pinscher his hair in different spots is jusr falling out is this normal or is my dog not going to have any hair?

I would recommend you getting him to the vet and have them do a skin scraping to check for demodex mites. They cause demodicosis (red mange).

If he is also itchy, he may have mange. If not, it could be a thyroid problem, Cushing's Disease, or ???. Best to see your vet.



Also, blue Dobermans are prone to losing their hair on the trunk of their body. Were one of the parents a blue? It could have a genetic link.

Not knowing how much you know about Dobes, are you sure he's a red and not a fawn? The fawns are prone to alopecia just like the blues.



Could be a lot of things, unfortunately. Is he itchy, are there any other symptoms?

Sounds like Demodx mange , which is hereditaty not contagious . I would have you vet check it out asap . Reds can have some skin problems . I keep my reds and blue dobes on fish oil , 1,000 mgs 2 times a day . It really helps thier coat look good .



FYI, you can find fish oil at your local drug store , its a vitamin people take .
