He's a 6 month old applehead saimese kitten. I only just noticed that his skin on his left cheek and both of his ears, his skin is flaking very badly. After a day, the flaking wasn't as bad, but now he has these strange little lumps on his ears, it looks like sap or pus. Then the next day he started losing his hair on these particular spots including on the back of his neck and the fur around it is very greasy. I keep telling my parents to take him to the vet, but they are assuming that it's nothing. I'm starting to get very worried about my little kitten. Can anyone shed some light on this situation and tell me what's wrong?
Why does my cat have flaky skin AND is losing his hair?
I'd take him to a vet; what you are describing is not normal in a 6 month old. They may need to do some skin scrapings... this could be something easily spread to humans. It'll probably be easy to clear up with the right tx.

It sounds like dandruff. Cat can get that also. Take him to the vet to get a spray to soothe and heal the skin. LOL that sounded like a commercial rather than help.

You should take it to the vet for sure, it could be nothing just dandruff and shedding but i have not heard of that in a kitten. It could be something serious so you should get the vet to check it out.

Sounds like ringworm, very common in kittens. If he doesn't get treatment he MIGHT overcome it on his own, but most kittens cannot, as their immune systems are not yet strong enough. More often, they succumb to severe secondary skin infections and can become very ill.

If it were an older cat I would blame old age - but I agree it sounds like ringworm. I would take him to the vet to get treatment. "The most recognised sign your cat is infected with ringworm is circular patches of hair loss, especially around the head %26amp; limbs (although it can occur on other parts of the body also). Other signs are grey, patchy areas of baldness, with or without redness %26amp; itching, seborrhea sicca (a type of dandruff), dry/flaky skin, onychomycosis (infection of the claw %26amp; clawbed)."

I know who could shed some light on the situation - A VET. Your parents are responsible for the welfare of this animal. If they refuse to let you take it to the vet then call animal control and tell them your parents are denying a sick animal treatment. Maybe then they'll wake up to responsibility. Odd that they forked out all the money to buy a Siamese but won't pay for vet care?

Why does my cat have flaky skin AND is losing his hair?
Its either dry skin or dandruff. Some people put vaseline on the dry spots. My male cat keeps scratching the back of his left ear until it bleeds and then he gets a scab there. My mom told me its dry skin and told me about the vaseline. He's also losing fur on his back by his tail.
